SUPRA GROM SERIES # 2
IT'S ANYONES SERIES MACKEY TAKES ROUND TWO
The second stop of the Supra Grom Series was held this past Saturday, 11th February on the Molongolo River, Canberra.
This week the head to head battle was between the same competitors from the round before; 19 year old Troy Mackey and 12 year old Harley Clifford, with Mackey taking the win to even out the ranking positions.
First off the dock, Mackey went huge, grabbing everything including an Indy tantrum to blind, method crow mobe and a mellon off axis 360 to name a few.
Last rounds victor, Harley Clifford went equally huge with a Moby Dick, Dum Dum and KGB. In the end, judges decided on style over technical moves, and awarded the win to Mackey at the presentation that night at Bobby McGees, Canberra. With Mackey stating that it's now "anyone's series". Mackey took home $800 plus a stack of prizes from Ocean & Earth, Masterline, O'Brien and Liquid Force.
Supra Grom Girls (19 years & under) were throwing down tantrums and 360's, while the Junior Grom Divisions (14 years and under) were busting out raileys and grabs.
King of Wake 2005, Josh Sanders commented that "the level of riding from the juniors is just huge and with such a national spread of competitors, the future of wakeboarding is in good hands."
