SUPRA GROM # 1 – Langfield Riding like a Pro

The 2nd annual Supra Grom Series held on the Mulwala Waterski Lakes, Mulwala last weekend showed us just how good these kids really are.

The wakeboard ruler of the day was, none other than 15 year old, Mitch Langfield from Queensland, Australia. Mitch pulled out all the stops to show he really was the Supra Grom Champ of the first stop of the 2007 Series.

In his first head to head battle, Langfield defeated Milton, NSW boy Sam Thomson, before taking on fellow Queenslander Jarrod Askew, and again pushing through the head to head to victory. The match up of the day between South Australian young gun, Ryleigh Pfitzner and Langfield was a heated battle. Pfitzner's stand up pass was still not enough to match Langfield's series of technical moves.

Event organiser, Josh Sanders commented "Langfield has definitely set the pace and the standard for the other Supra Grom competitors this year. He has been stomping whirly 5's and 7's in his run and the kid is only 15 years old! "

The 19 years and under Supra Girls division definitely displayed the best of the best in girls wakeboarding too. Lauren Bell and Bec Gange both killed it in their runs, but lost out to none other than, Caitlin Blaauw.

The 14 years and under Jr Grom division showed us the cream of the crop of young riders raring to go. Western Australian rider, Ben Luckens came out of nowhere to show his competitors whose boss. Fellow Western Australian rider, Kuri Wickcliffe came in second, and Toni Iacconi from NSW finished up third.

The 14 years and under Jr Girl Grom division showed a great display of young girl talent. Jade Casey ended up taking the win, with Stephanie Beasley and Krystal Oliver coming in second and third respectively.

"It's great to see Supra Grom competitors coming from across the country to compete against each other this year." Sanders stated. "The level of riding is definitely heating up against the younger divisions too!"
