Sydney’s south coast Shoalhaven River was host to the most invigorating Junior competition of wakeboarding this past weekend. Supra Boats Team Rider, Harley Clifford from the NSW Central Coast, and at only 13 years old, blew his competition out of the water and proved to be the victor of the day.

The Supra Grom Series, which is being held under the umbrella of the AWWF Grom Series this year, played host as the second stop of the four stop series.

The Open division of 19 years and under riders, exemplified the type of wakeboarding that has the made the Supra Grom Series, the premier event for young wakeboarders.

In the Opens Final, the young riders threw down professional level tricks like Crow Mobe 5’s, Pete Roses, Tootsie Rolls and Batwings to blind.

The line up ended up with Harley Clifford seizing the win, Jarrod Askew from QLD in second, the older Clifford Brother, Ty ended in third, and local Lake Conjola Boy, Sam Thomson taking fourth place.

Event organiser, Josh Sanders remarked "This years event was a great success again. The young riders are moving up the ranks in their riding ability and some have the ability to make it as a professional rider. It’s great to also see the younger divisions giving it a go and having fun out on the water, and also more and more girls getting involved in the sport.”

The Supra Junior Womens Division seemed to be a seemed to be a local showdown with Terara Girl, Sophie Black taking the win, with Bomaderry local, Sarah Garrick coming second and Kira Webster from Woolamia in third place.

Jacob Carkeet from McKellar, ACT won the Junior Mens Division over local Berry Boy, Marcus Rogers and Meroo Meadow, Darby Buchar in third position.

The Boys Division was full of talent with what seemed to be a Queensland battle for the best of the 10 – 14 year olds. James Neville came in third, with Brad Teunissen taking second place and Mitch Askew winning the Division.

QLD Girl Courtney Angus took out the Girls 10-14 years division, with NSW Girl, Krystal Oliver coming in second.

Another young gun, Cory Teunissen from QLD took out the Jr Boys Division, with Keenen Derry coming in second, and Zachary Neville taking third. Shire boy, Jack Connellan took fourth place position.

NSW Central Coast girl, Tanisha Iacconi took first place in the Girls Under 9 Division.

The Series presentation was held at the Josh Sanders’ Pool Party, where patrons were treated to the Liquid Malisha rail jam, where the likes of Ben Tolson, and 2005 US Pro Tour Champion, Josh Sanders showed off for the crowd, doing wakeboard tricks from one pool into another over a rail (and concrete!).

“This years Pool Party was so much fun. We love being able to showcase how wakeboarding can be done, even in a carpark! Thanks to a great audience, who seemed to enjoy every moment of the rail jam. I had a blast!” Josh Sanders.
